Wash detergent

Using a mild detergent and warm water to prepare a solution of mild soap. Leave your ring in this solution for a few minutes. The GIA does not recommend the use of ultrasound or steam cleaners to clean diamonds.

Off the counter cleaners

Many detergents are also available at the shops. Your diamond retailer may also have given a cleaner such as Mr. clean-clean all purpose. Follow the instructions carefully when using these products on your diamond. Avoid using detergents containing acid as this can affect the surface of the gemstone. Even if you purchased your solution from a store that do not deal in diamonds, consult your gemologist prior to use. Avoid abrasive cleaners and cleaning your diamond. Toothpaste should not also be used for cleaning is usually sodium bicarbonate or other ingredients which can cause scratches.

Diamond cleaning on a regular basis ensures that they sparkle for a long time to come. Once a month or even once a week depending on use, you can clean them. Gemisimo recommends that, as soon as you notice a accumulation of film, caused by oil or soap, clean your ring at home.
